August has been a busy month (my birthday included), but luckily I have had a chance to check out a few new places around NYC. I wanted to share some of the best food in NYC from this month!
The Best Food in NYC – August Edition
Tarallucci e Vino , 5 NYC Locations
Tarallucci e Vino has 5 locations in NYC. Check out their website for locations and hours. See below for recommendations on what to eat at this fabulous authentic Italian restaurant. I stopped by the Upper West Side location during restaurant week with friends.
The Regal, Williamsburg, Brooklyn
163 HOPE STREET, BROOKLYN, NY, 11211718-388-4626
I stopped by the Regal with a friend to get our daily Hooch drink, but we stayed for the breakfast pizza! This delicious brunch pizza was the perfect afternoon snack for a summer weekend. Not familiar with Hooch? It’s a drink subscription app that allows you to get 1 free drink per day at select bars for under $10/mo! The first month is only $1 if you use this code to sign up! Unfortunately I had lunch before meeting up at the Regal, so I wasn’t hungry enough for a full meal. The entire menu looked amazing and I can’t wait to go back.
Yves, TriBeCa, Manhattan
385 Greenwich Street, NYC 10013
I met my future roommate at Yves to sign our new lease! We just popped in this place for a quick lunch, but everything was amazing. We shared the three dishes you see here. Chicken meatballs, a frittata, and french fries. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for excellent food in TriBeCa.
Atlantic Grill, Upper East Side, Manhattan
1341 Third Avenue at 77th Street, New York, NY 10021
The Atlantic Grill is a classic Manhattan establishment, but surprisingly one I had never visited. That all changed when I found myself without plans on my birthday. The big bash was the night before, so I headed off to Atlantic Grill to get my favorite dish. Yep, if you were paying attention above, you’ll know I came here for the octopus.
Junzi Kitchen, Upper West Side, Manhattan
2896 Broadway, New York, NY
Junes kitchen is a healthy fast food Asian restaurant located near Columbia University. This northern chinese style restaurant focuses on wings and noodles. I had a chance to try both of them. A healthy and affordable new option for me when I am visiting my alma mater.
The Best Food in NYC – Desserts!!
Two Little Red Hens, Upper East Side, Manhattan
1652 Second Avenue (@86th Street), New York, NY 10028
And now for my favorite part of eating, the dessert! I struggled to choose a birthday dessert for my party, but settled on this local bakery. A friend recommended the Boston Cream Cupcakes. I ordered a large assortment of cupcakes so everyone could sample them, but this one was by far my favorite.
Cafe Lalo, Upper West Side Manhattan
201 West 83rd St. New York, NY 10024
Cafe Lalo is definitely the place to go to celebrate your birthday. With over 100 cakes to choose from, it took me longer to choose a cake than to eat it! This gem has been on the Upper West Side for nearly as long as I have been alive! This classic european style cafe is worth a visit if you’re nearby at one of the local museums or visiting Central Park. Oh, and in case you are wondering, I chose the black and white cheesecake and it was fabulous.
Godiva Chocolatier, Rockefeller Center, Manhattan
52 W 50th St New York, NY 10112
The new Godiva Chocolatier in Rockefeller Center is a chocolate lover’s dream. You can purchase chocolate pastries, coffee, macarons, ice cream, and the current Godiva Collection. This is going to be my go to spot this Winter when I am showing my family around New York City for Christmas!
Arthur Avenue, Bronx, New York
When looking for authentic Italian desserts, cheese, meats, and more Arthur Avenue is the place to go. It is known as Little Italy of the Bronx. I took a guided tour through this neighborhood, learning all of the best places to find Italian goodies.
Le Pain Quotidien (Many Locations)
Central Park Conservatory Water, Near 72nd Street/5th Avenue
My final dessert recommendation can be found in Central Park! Grab a waffle with ice cream and enjoy the day! You will find Le Pain Quotidien locations throughout the park, but my favorite is near the Conservatory Water where you can rent toy sail boats. There are two around the conservatory water where you can get snacks, sandwiches, coffee, tea, and even wine! There are tables and chairs as well as benches all around the water to sit and relax and enjoy the park day.
I’m so delighted to share the Best Food in NYC for August. I hope you enjoy my recommendations. Please leave any questions or comments in the section below!

No shortage of good food in NYC. Everything looks so good and I have not been to most of those places (except for Atlantic Grill). I also did not know about Hooch, that sounds like a great deal!
