The lavender fields of Provence are all the rage these days. They are high on my bucket list, but with no european vacation this summer, they will have to wait for me. I certainly haven’t given up hope though. There are plenty of lavender fields in my own backyard! My grandmother lives near one in Philadelphia, and my mother discovered one only 30 minutes from my hometown of Washington, Missouri. So on my most recent trip home, we took a trip to the local lavender farm!
Long Row Lavender Farm
Located in the Missouri Rhineland, near some of the state’s most famous wineries, you will find Long Row Lavender Farm. On the farm, you can take a tour, walk through the rows of lavender and sunflowers, browse the gift shop, or attend a class. I was disappointed to learn I had missed an iced tea brewing and tasting class just the day before! And now they offer high tea AND YOGA! This is going to be one of my favorite places to visit when I return to Missouri each year. They have a variety of crafting classes scheduled throughout the Fall, so be sure to take a look at the schedule. While you can visit the farm through December 16th to shop, you’ll find the lavender blooms in June & September. Naturally, these are the most beautiful times to visit the farm.
What I Bought at the Lavender Farm
my shopping decisions were guided both by TSA liquid limits and suitcase constraints. I did end up leaving the farm with some great items. I ran out of chapstick upon arrival in St. Louis, so I was delighted to find that they sold lip balm for only $3 at the farm. I also picked up two lavender teas, one for sleepy time! My sister and I also picked up some lavender bath truffles. The gift shop is the perfect place to find unique home and beauty gifts and support local farms and businesses! Since it was my birthday weekend, my sister also grabbed a t-shirt for me to show support for local farmers! My sister and her husband live on a working farm, you can read about it here.
What I Wore at the Lavender Farm
Want to know more about what I wore at the lavender farm? I selected a maxi dress from one of my favorite designers, Joie. I went with my every day Jack Rogers slip on sandals. Not pictured below is the Gresso Miami constellation clutch in white. You can find other Gresso products at Nordstrom rack though!

Very pretty dress! You always wear the cutest dresses during your travels! I had no idea you were from Missouri, I just assumed you always lived in NYC. I would love the opportunity to see where lavender is grown. I spray a little on my pillow each night before bed.

There are quite a few in the US. I think Oregon/Washington might have the ones closest to you.

I would love to visit a Lavender farm. I have so many oils and products that are lavender scented. Such a bummer you missed the iced tea brewing and tasting class. I would love to learn how to make a proper ice tea!

Me too! I am always afraid I do it wrong. Haha. And if they have any secrets about how to get that lavender flavor in, that would be amazing.
